Die Site war im März 2003 vom nicht-kommerziellen Center for Media & Democracy in Madison (US-Bundesstaat Wisconsin) gegründet worden: "Da die Vereinigten Staaten sich immer mehr einer unilateralen Kriegserklärung an den Irak nähern, ist das Verständnis der Öffentlichkeit für Kriegspropaganda ein wichtiges Anliegen", erklären die Betreiber zum Hintergrund, die Site in diesen Tagen online zu stellen. Grundsätzliches Ziel des Projektes ist eine allgemein verfügbare Enzyklopädie der Propaganda.

Leider habe ich auf den Seiten von "Everything 2" keine allgemeine Vorstellung gefunden.
Auf der Startseite findet man zwar den Hinweis und die entsprechenden Links:

Aber dort findet man auch keine ERklärung, worum es eigentlich geht.

Laut c't 01/2006 soll das Konzept dieses Projekts jedoch mit dem des Wikipedia-Projekts vergleichbar sein.
Durch die Eingabe von Suchbegriffen wie etwa "Etymology" oder "Rose" erhält die entsprechenden Einträge. Diese enthalten auch Hinweise "by Webster 1913".
