Im Mittelpunkt des Projektes OpenGeoDB steht der Aufbau einer möglichst vollständigen Datenbank mit Geokoordinaten zu allen Orten und Postleitzahlen im deutschsprachigen Raum (D,A,CH). Dies soll vor allem durch die Beteiligung von möglichst vielen Personen geschehen, die diese zentrale Datenbank pflegen.

There are currently more than 900 genuine isms in the ISMS database.
What is an ism?
In a busy workplace, during an important phone call, when you're not quite sure of your ground or when you’re simply trying to sound knowledgeable, sometimes the words that come out of your mouth can make you sound like a complete idiot - generally to the amusement of your colleagues who are listening in. Members of the ISMS always listen in, that's how we get most of our isms.

Isms, as collected by the ISMS, come from work colleagues under pressure, meetings with clients, radio and television broadcasters and so on, but all are genuine and have been heard at first hand (if that’s possible?).

Our "isms" are generally categorised as "malapropisms", "mixed metaphors", the occasional "spoonerism" and attempts at using foreign phrases, but many are just downright nonsense that sound correct, if said with conviction, until analysed by trained professionals like us at the ISMS.
