Das engl. "preposterous" ist eigentlich genau das was es bedeutet "absurd", "ridiculous", dt. "widersinnig". Wenn man die lat. Herkunft wörtlich nimmt heisst es "pre" + "posterus" = "before following behind" oder "vorn folgt hinten", was etwa "mit dem Ende anfangen" bedeutet.
