Nicht immer kann man von der Länderdomain ("Country Code Top Level Domain" = "ccTLD") auf die wirkliche Herkunft einer Internetseite schliessen. Oftmals werden die offiziellen "Last Level Domains" auch aus unterschiedlichen Gründen zweckentfremdet. "C/C++" steht für "a superset of {C}", einer schon vorhandenen Programmiersprache. {C++} ist also eine Erweiterung von {C}.
Die Programmiersprache "{C}" erhielt ihrerseits die Bezeichnung als Nachfolger der Programmiersprache "{B}".
Die Programmiersprache "{B}" wiederum verdankt ihren Namen der Nachfolge einer Programmiersprache namens "{bon}". Und diese wiederum erhielt ihren Namennach der Frau "Bonnie" des Programmierers "Ken Thompson".
"C++" One of the most used {object-oriented} languages, a "superset of {C}" developed primarily by Bjarne Stroustrup at {AT&T} {Bell Laboratories} in 1986.
It was called "{C}" because many features derived from an earlier compiler named "{B}". In fact, "{C}" was briefly named "NB". "{B}" was itself strongly influenced by {BCPL}. Before {Bjarne Stroustrup} settled the question by designing "{C++}", there was a humorous debate over whether {C}'s successor should be named "D" or "P" (following B and C in "BCPL").
"{B}" was, according to Ken, greatly influenced by "{BCPL}", but the name "B" had nothing to do with "BCPL". "{B}" was in fact a revision of an earlier language, "{bon}", named after Ken Thompson's wife, "Bonnie".

"cc" steht für "carbon copy" = "Kohlepapierdurchschlag" wird aber auch gelegentlich als "courtesy copy" = "Höflichkeitskopi" beschönigt.
Die Abkürzung findet man im Englischen auch als Verb, wie etwa in: "Did you cc the fax to Sam?" ("Haben Sie Sam eine Kopie geschickt?") oder "Could you cc me on that mail?" (Beachte: Die Langschrift "carbon copy" ist kein Verb, aber die Abkürzung "cc" wird als Verb verwendet.)
Heute steht "cc" immer noch in vielen E-Mail-Systemen zum Eintragen von Kopie-Empfängern. Wie die Langschrift erkennen lässt, stammt die Abkürzung aber noch aus Zeiten, als man damit einen "Durchschlag mit Kohlepapier" bezeichnete.
Es gibt aber noch viele weitere Bedeutungen der "cc"-Kombination:

Die "Kokosinseln" oder auch "Keelinginseln" bestehen aus zwei Atollen mit 27 kleinen Koralleninseln im Indischen Ozean (14 km2 groß, 600 Einwohner). Benannt sind sie nach den Kokospalmenpflanzungen.
Die Bezeichnung "Keelinginseln" - wie sie auch genannt werden, geht auf den englischen Seefahrer "W. Keeling" zurück, der sie 1609 entdeckte.
Seit 1955 stehen sie unter australischer Verwaltung.

Die Entdeckung der Inseln schreibt man 1609 dem Kapitän der Britischen Ostindien-Kompanie "William Keeling" zu, schlüssige Beweise für diese These fehlen allerdings. Erst in einem niederländischen Atlas von 1659 ist dann erstmals von den "Cocos Eylanden" die Rede, 1703 nannte sie der britische Hydrograph Thornton "Keeling Islands". Eine erste genaue Beschreibung findet sich 1753 im Buch "Zeefakkel" des Niederländers van Keulen. Der Brite James Horsburgh fertigte 1805 genaue Seekarten dieser Gewässer an und bezeichnete die Inseln als "Cocos-Keeling-Islands". In den Folgejahren strandeten mehrere Schiffe vor den Inseln (1825 die Mauritius aus Frankreich sowie aus Großbritannien 1826 die Sir Francis Nicholas Burton und 1834 die Earl of Liverpool).

"Kokos" und seine Entsprechungen in anderen europäischen Sprachen gehen auf spanisch "coco" = "Gespenst" zurück, offenbar wegen der drei Samenöffnungen, durch die eine Kokosnuß ein unheimlich-gespenstiges Aussehen erhält.
Der wissenschaftliche (botanische) Name der "Kokosnuß" ist "Cocos nucifera". (Das heisst dann also wohl etwa "gespenstische Nuss".)
